Chalk Talk: The man in motion

Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo breaks down what a team can learn from an opposing defense by putting a man in motion.

Why does a receiver sometimes go in motion and return to the same spot?

"He's just trying to move across the ball to see what coverage we're in," Mayo told CSNNE.com Patriots insider Tom E. Curran.

Also, Mayo pointed out that it is harder for an opposing defensive back or linebacker to get a jam on a receiver who is in motion.

"It's kind of like of poker," Mayo said. "Me showing you my hand."
