Boston College football hires Addazio as head coach

Boston College has moved on rather quickly. Less than two weeks after firing Frank Spaziani, the Eagles have hired a new head coach, Temple's Steve Addazio.

"Steve Addazio brings three critical traits to Boston College football," BC director of athletics Brad Bates said in a statement. "First, he genuinely cares about his students and will facilitate their formation and development in meaningful ways that creates a family culture extending into the entire BC community. Second, he has a passion that is contagious and an energy that will motivate those fortunate to meet him. Finally, he is a proven winner with an extensive history of success as an assistant and head coach that includes two national championships.

"We are very excited to have Steve Addazio leading Boston College football and look forward to an extraordinary future."

Addazio will be introduced Wednesday (3 p.m. ET) at Boston College.

Addazio, 53, went 13-11 in his two seasons at Temple as the program adjusted to its new Big East schedule. He was offensive coordinator (2009-10) and offensive line coach (2005-08) at Florida under then-coach Urban Meyer.

"Steve Addazio has done a tremendous job with Temple Football in his two years at the University, and we wish him nothing but the best," Temple director of athletics Bill Bradshaw said in a statement.
