After trailing 21-7, Clemson avoided an upset at home with a 27-21 victory over previously unbeaten Syracuse. The Orange dropped only two spots to No. 16 in the latest AP Top 25 poll entering Week 9.
Another team that suffered its first loss was Ole Miss. The Runnin' Rebels led LSU 14-3 after the first quarter but lost 45-21 after the Tigers scored 28 unanswered points in the second half. Ole Miss dropped further than any team in the AP Poll, going from No. 7 all the way down to No. 15.
