Watch Grant Williams' live reaction from draft party when Celtics picked him

The Boston Celtics seem excited about Grant Williams -- and the feeling is clearly mutual.

The Tennessee product didn't attend the 2019 NBA Draft, instead hosting a draft party with family and friends in Ballantyne, N.C., near where he went to high school.

So, Williams watched on TV with the rest of us when the Celtics made him the No. 22 overall pick in Thursday's draft. Here's his reaction:

Williams' camp obviously would have been excited no matter where he was drafted -- that's his mother, an engineer for NASA, giving him a big ol' hug -- but they seemed pretty fired up about the 20-year-old going to Boston.

It turns out his family has a little green in its blood, too.

“Man, I’m blessed," Williams told the Charlotte Observer's Langston Wertz Jr. on Thursday night. "It means the world because a team like Boston is historically great. My grandfather loves the team."

Williams hopped on the phone with the Celtics front office after being picked, but the C's brass kept things brief to allow him to celebrate with loved ones.

"They said, ‘enjoy the moment and enjoy the night. We’ll talk when things settle down,' " Williams added. "They said, ‘We’re glad to have you,’ and I’m glad to be a part of the organization. I couldn’t be more thankful."
