Time Lord (illness) out for Celtics vs. Mavericks

The Boston Celtics got Jaylen Brown back from a hip injury on Wednesday night against the Dallas Mavericks, and it looked like they were going to be close to fully healthy once again.

However, at the last minute, things changed.

Just about a half an hour before tip-off, the Celtics announced that they'd be without center Robert Williams as he deals with a non-COVID illness.

Williams has been averaging 10 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game during the month of March and had recently taken over as the Celtics' starter. Without him and with Tristan Thompson (health and safety protocols) out, the C's will be shorthanded at the center spot.

The newly-acquired Moritz Wagner will be starting in place of Williams at center, and he will be backed up throughout the night by Luke Kornet. Both players came over to Boston in the Daniel Theis deal.Β Kornet has actually played more minutes of the two and is averaging 9.0 points per game in two outings.

Tacko Fall may get some extra minutes at center tonight as well, especially if the C's need a long center to make it tough for the Mavericks to make plays near the rim.
