Thomas hopes NBA counted his block on George

BOSTON – Isaiah Thomas can score.

Isaiah Thomas can pass.

But … a shot blocker?

The 5-foot-9 guard turned heads this summer when he swatted an attempted dunk by 6-8 Trevor Ariza of the Houston Rockets during a summer pro-am game in Seattle.

And in Boston’s 103-94 win over Indiana, Pacers all-star Paul George became Thomas’ latest victim.

With Indiana ahead 90-88 in the fourth quarter, George got a step past Jae Crowder and appeared to have an easy score only for Thomas to come out of seemingly nowhere to swat the ball away and out of bounds off of George.

Thomas jokingly told Crowder afterwards, “if you want me to slide over, I can do things like that. So I just told him if he asks a little more, I can get a few more blocks.”

After the game, Thomas wasn’t sure if his play would in fact be counted as a blocked shot.

“I jumped and he (George) kind of threw the ball in my hands,” Thomas said. “I definitely hope they counted the block.”
