Daniel Theis will be out for Wednesday’s game against the Miami Heat after having his broken nose re-set shortly after the Boston Celtics return home from their two-game road trip that ends tonight in Indiana.

“He’ll get up early (Tuesday morning) and go to the doctor and have his nose worked on,” said Celtics head coach Brad Stevens who confirmed that Theis will not play in Wednesday’s game against the Miami Heat. “And then, supposedly it’s a one- to two-day away thing and he should be back and available on Thursday depending on how he feels.”

In two games against the Heat this season, Theis has averaged 5.5 points and 2.5 rebounds while making five of his seven shot attempts.

Theis suffered a broken nose injury just 34 seconds into his first stint in Friday’s loss to Utah. While he was initially ruled out for traveling with the team for Saturday’s game at Memphis, he was given the green light to accompany the team at the last minute.

The 25-year-old rookie once again came off the bench and provided some much-needed energy for the Celtics, finishing with five points, three rebounds and two blocked shots in just 14 minutes.
