Robert Williams missed Red Claws game — but had a very valid excuse

While his nickname implies otherwise, Robert Williams can't be in two places at once.

Which is why the Boston Celtics probably were just fine with the "Time Lord" missing Thursday night's Maine Red Claws game in Portland.

Judging by his Instagram, Williams welcomed a baby girl into his life either Thursday night or Friday morning.

"I just met a girl, she stuck in my head," Williams wrote in an Instagram post Friday morning that featured a video of a newborn girl.

Williams was assigned to Boston's G League affiliate Thursday to make room for Jaylen Brown but received an "excused personal absence" from the Red Claws' game against the Oklahoma City Blue before tip-off.

Now, it appears we know why.

The 21-year-old Texas A&M product took some heat early in his Celtics tenure for some unexcused absences, but this exciting news certainly doesn't fall in that category.
