So far, trade discussions between the Celtics and Spurs regarding Kawhi Leonard have not been all that productive.
The C's reached out to San Antonio about Leonard on Wednesday, but no real negotiation was made, according to Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald.
"It was the first contact between the teams since before the draft, but even those talks did not include the C's making an offer," Bulpett writes. "That brief call, according to two league sources, went nowhere."
By no means does this indicate Boston is out of the Kawhi Leonard sweepstakes. Bullpet notes, "If the San Antonio Spurs get serious about trading Kawhi Leonard, the Celtics, according to multiple league sources, would like to be involved." However, Leonard's quadriceps injury along with him becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2019 mean the Celtics likely won't be willing to pay the high price the Spurs demand for their star.
Among the teams in trade talks with the Spurs for Leonard on Wednesday were the Cavaliers, 76ers, and Clippers, according to ESPN.
Yahoo Sports' Chris Mannix reports the Spurs are "not showing any urgency" in making a deal.
