Phil Perry covered the Patriots quarterback situation this week in his position-by-position assessments. The Pats may have thrown a little wrinkle into that Thursday by hosting another QB for a workout.
Field Yates of ESPN reports that ex-Jets bust Christian Hackenberg, released by the Raiders on Tuesday, three weeks after he was acquired from New York for a conditional seventh-round pick, was in Foxboro.
Hackenberg, a second-round pick of the Jets from Penn State in 2016, has never played in an NFL regular-season game.
Given his track record, he would appear to be a real long shot to beat out Brian Hoyer and Pats' 2018 seventh-round pick Danny Etling of LSU.
