The Celtics reportedly expressed interest in Griffin after the six-time All-Star's contract was bought out by the Detroit Pistons last week. Instead, Griffin will join a star-studded Nets team headlined by Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving.
Durability has been an issue for Griffin, especially over his last couple of seasons. The soon-to-be 32-year-old forward played in only 18 games during the 2019-20 campaign due to a left knee injury and hasn't been the same player since undergoing surgery. If healthy, there's no doubt he can boost Brooklyn's already-great odds of earning the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
So far this season, Griffin is averaging 12.3 points and 5.2 rebounds through 20 games.
The Celtics could see Griffin make his Nets debut when they begin the second half of their season vs. Brooklyn on Thursday night.
