Danny Ainge's deadline deal to acquire Evan Fournier from the Orlando Magic earned strong praise from a former Boston Celtic.
Kendrick Perkins shared his take on the C's getting Fournier for Jeff Teague and two second-round picks, and he used an excellent analogy while doing so.

"I thought Danny did Danny things and did a wonderful job," Perkins said Thursday during NBC Sports Boston's "Celtics Trade Deadline Special." "He's out here trading used cars and getting back Escalades. That's what he did, he finessed the Orlando Magic. He got back Evan Fournier for two second-round picks. Hell of a job.
"Just think about it. We talk about that shot last night that Marcus Smart took, that wide-open 3-point shot. And I'm not saying that he shouldn't take it and he can't make it. But guess what? Nine times out of 10, Evan Fournier, he's not even getting that shot because people aren't leaving him that wide-open. That's why he's effective. Even if he's not touching the ball, they still have to honor him as a decoy even being on the floor, which opens up the paint for Kemba [Walker], Jaylen Brown, and Jayson Tatum."

Fournier is set to be an unrestricted free agent after this season, so he may end up being a rental for Boston. Still, it's easy to see why Perkins is excited by the trade.
In 26 games this season, Fournier is averaging a career-high 19.7 points and shooting 38.8 percent from 3-point range. The 28-year-old shooting guard should provide a big boost to a Celtics team that has needed another scorer to join the trio of Walker, Brown, and Tatum.

The Celtics also traded Daniel Theis and Javonte Green on Thursday, sending them to the Chicago Bulls in a deal that will bring Mo Wagner and Luke Kornet to Boston.
