R.J. Hunter is back with the Boston Celtics.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Wednesday that Hunter is coming to Boston on a two-way contract. This means he could split time between the Celtics and the NBA G-League's Maine Red Claws.
Hunter was selected by the C's with the 28th overall pick in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft. He was Boston's second first-round pick of that draft -- the first was point guard Terry Rozier with the No. 16 selection.
Hunter played 36 games for Boston during his rookie season but was unable to earn a regular role in the rotation. Shooting was his strength at Georgia State, but he converted on just 30.2 percent of his 3-point attempts as a rookie. The Celtics waived Hunter in 2016.
He played three games with the Chicago Bulls during the 2016-17 season and five games with the Houston Rockets in the 2017-18 campaign. This season, he averaged 22.0 points per game for the Erie BayHawks of the G-League.
