Marcus Smart jokingly declares for NFL Draft on Twitter

In the wake of Kyler Murray, a two-sport athlete, going with the No. 1 overall pick, apparently, some other players want in on the NFL. And one of those players is Boston Celtics' guard, Marcus Smart.

After the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Smart took to Twitter to announce he was entering the second round of the draft.

Smart would go on to say that he would play both quarterback and wide receiver, and he would only throw the ball to himself.

Though Smart is obviously joking, it's easy to imagine the 6-4, 220-pound athlete finding a spot in the NFL. With his physical, grinding style, Smart could have served as a long, athletic cornerback or as a gritty jump-ball receiver. He could have even been similar to the Patriots' first-round pick, N'Keal Harry, in that regard, so maybe the Patriots would have considered Smart if he was a football player.

Smart isn't the only athlete this week to be linked to a potential NFL career. Patriots receiver Julian Edelman recruited likely top NBA pick Zion Williamson to play tight end for the Patriots while Tom Brady did the same, but with 6-9 Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara. There's sure to be more recruiting pitches over the course of the offseason, so this will certainly be fun to follow.
