Marcus Morris to make C's debut in preseason finale vs Hornets

Hours away from their last preseason game - tonight at Charlotte - Boston Celtics forward Marcus Morris will see his first action of the season as a Celtic.

Acquired from Detroit this past summer in exchange for Avery Bradley, the 6-foot-9 Morris did not join the Celtics until the end of last week.

He and his brother Markieff Morris were acquitted of assault charges in Phoenix following an incident in January of 2015.

Morris doesn't put much stock into preseason games, but tonight's matchup is definitely different.

“This is the last preseason game so I have to try and do something before we play on Tuesday,” Marcus Morris told reporters.

After missing most of the preseason due to his court case in Phoenix, Marcus acknowledged his conditioning isn’t where he would want it to be at this point.

So the opportunity for him to get on the floor and face some competition besides his teammates before the season opener at Cleveland on Tuesday, is part of his progress towards getting back in shape.

“It’s very important, get my rhythm back, get my wind up,” Morris said. “See where I’m at, learn the offense, actually really live. The defensive calls, defensive schemes, things like that.”

Stevens said Morris will play limited minutes tonight.

“We’re encouraged that we are going to be able to get him a little bit (of playing time in the preseason),” said Celtics head coach Brad Stevens. “It’s not going to be very much. I wouldn’t over-react to 12 minutes no matter what. We know Marcus is a good player. It’s more important for him just to get out there and play a little bit.”
