Key dates for the 2020-21 NBA season with Dec. 22 start a go

The 2020 NBA offseason won't be much of one.

The NBA Players Association's board of representatives have agreed to a 72-game 2020-21 NBA season that begins Dec. 22.

The league was pushing for an earlier start to the season that would end prior to the 2021 Summer Olympics in mid-July, and while players initially were angling for a mid-January start, the 72-game season means they'll lose less of their salaries.

Dates still haven't been set for the beginning of free agency and lifting the trade moratorium, but those are expected in the coming days, as the NBA Draft is now less than two weeks away.

The Boston Celtics were eliminated from the 2020 NBA playoffs on Sept. 27, so they'll have less than three months between seasons -- and they have plenty of work to do between now and Dec. 22.
