The Boston Celtics will face a Kyrie Irving-less Brooklyn Nets team Wednesday night at TD Garden.
While C's fans are upset they won't get the opportunity to boo Irving off the court, Jaylen Brown doesn't seem too upset that Irving won't take the court against the C's.
"To be able to compete against a former teammate, those are always fun," Brown told reporters following Boston's win over the Sacremento Kings Monday night. "You said he's not playing? Well, we'll catch him next time."
Irving has missed the past six games with a shoulder injury, but that hasn't stopped the Nets from going 5-1 during his absence.
Before his injury, Irving was averaging 28.5 points, 7.2 assists and 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting 44.4 percent from the field and 34.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Following Friday's action, the Celtics won't face the Nets again until March. Maybe Irving will show his face then, but who knows.
