CHARLOTTE — Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown expects to return to action Thursday night in Charlotte after missing three games while battling illness and infection.
Brown said he developed an abscess that needed to be drained, all while undergoing multiple rounds of antibiotics to combat the infection that developed from the initial illness.
"I had to spend some time [at the hospital],” said Brown. “Maybe not a night but I definitely spent a lot of time there. Had to keep going back and forth, back and forth to the hospital. I’m better now, feel good, feel confident, had some good work the last two days, some conditioning, things like that.
"I don’t have any restrictions, just talked to [coach] Brad [Stevens] a few seconds ago, he’s ready to roll. Should be a good night.”
Stevens said later that the team would assess Brown at shootaround before determining his game status. Brown, who didn’t travel with the team to Cleveland and the start of this three-game road trip, joined the club in Charlotte on Wednesday.
"It was better because I was able to go to a familiar hospital with doctors who were familiar, rather than going to Cleveland, not knowing anybody or the team not knowing anybody who could help me recover faster,” said Brown. "Made sense. I wanted to go, but they wanted me to stay back.”
