James Harden injury: Rockets star questionable to play vs. Celtics with calf issue

Share

The Houston Rockets might be without their best player and the reigning NBA MVP award winner when they host the Boston Celtics on Thursday night.

James Harden is questionable for the matchup because of a bruised left calf, per Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.

Harden scored a game-high 41 points to help the Rockets beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 113-109 on Christmas Day. The Rockets guard has scored 30 or more points in seven straight games. He's averaging 32.3 points per game this season.

The Rockets already are without star point guard Chris Paul, who's nursing a left hamstring injury. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Dec. 21 there's optimism that Paul would miss just two or three weeks.

The Celtics' matchup with the Rockets is the first in a three-game Western Conference road trip following their Christmas Day win over the Philadelphia 76ers.
