Enes Kanter ‘disappointed' Kyrie Irving won't return to Boston on Wednesday

Kyrie Irving won't be in Boston for Wednesday night's Celtics-Nets matchup... not that that comes as a surprise to anyone.

But it does come as a disappointment. Prior to the 2019-20 campaign. Wednesday's game was circled on countless calendars as it marked Irving's first game at TD Garden since leaving for Brooklyn in free agency over the summer.

Celtics big man Enes Kanter wasn't on the team last year to get the full Kyrie experience, but Irving missing the anticipated matchup with a shoulder injury still bums him out. He shared his thoughts on the matter in the latest episode of NBC Sports Boston's "The Enes Kanter Show."

"I'm disappointed. I'll be honest," Kanter said. "We've been waiting for this moment for a long time, and now he's hurt and not playing? I'm really disappointed. But there's two games, of course, and he's going to come back. And... we're going to welcome him somehow."

How does Kanter see Irving being welcomed when he does eventually make his return?

"Well, from what I've heard from the fans, it's going to be very interesting," Kanter answered.
