The Boston Celtics' hunch was right.
Big man Andre Drummond intends to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers after he clears waivers Sunday at 5 p.m. ET, his agent confirmed to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Boston Celtics reportedly had interest in signing Drummond on the buyout market and even met with the 27-year-old center Friday after the Cleveland Cavaliers waived him, per Wojnarowski. The Athletic's Jared Weiss also reported Drummond was "strongly considering" coming to Boston.

Drummond makes sense in Los Angeles, where both LeBron James and Anthony Davis are sidelined due to injury. The two-time All-Star averaged 17.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game with Cleveland this season and should start over Marc Gasol and Montrezl Harrell, who have been inconsistent at center for the defending champions.
With the top two big men on the buyout market off the board in Drummond and LaMarcus Aldridge (Brooklyn Nets), it appears the Celtics will stick with their current frontcourt of Robert Williams, Tristan Thompson, Grant Williams, Tacko Fall and newcomers Moe Wagner and Luke Kornet.
