Bean doesn't believe the Celtics will be able to "Patriots" their way out of their issues. In other words, their problems won't be fixed by spending big during the offseason.
"The Patriots were able to say, 'OK, here's our way of solving this problem.' What's the Celtics' way of solving the problem? ...
"I don't think there's this obvious way of going about it. So if you're Danny Ainge, and if you're the Celtics, is Danny Ainge going to fix this with a tough task ahead of him? I think it's unrealistic to think 'OK, they're going to go into this offseason, and they're just going to make a bunch of moves and it's all going to work out.' They're kind of stuck right now given the Kemba [Walker] situation."
Forsberg: Can the C's most glaring issue be fixed?
Forsberg mentions that the Evan Fournier trade at the deadline set the Celtics up for some difficult decisions this summer.
"The Celtics essentially, by making the Evan Fournier trade, have sort of kicked tough decisions down the road," Forsberg said. "But it also added a layer where if Evan Fournier is part of your future, then you're trading Marcus Smart or Kemba Walker this offseason.
"I think the obvious choice is Kemba is not playing to the level of his contract because his body is not allowing him to do what he's done in the past, and so part of the reason they didn't splurge on draft picks at this trade deadline and throw a million picks at Orlando to get a Nikola Vucevic is because they're probably going to need those to tinker with this roster and sort of fix the errors of their ways."
