Celtics Talk: Could Celtics and Kings be trade partners?

Welcome back, Kyle Draper.

The former NBC Sports Boston reporter, who left in 2020 to become play-by-play commentator for the Sacramento Kings, joins Chris Forsberg on the latest episode of the Celtics Talk Podcast ahead of Sacramento's lone visit this season to TD Garden on Tuesday.

The Kings (18-30) are struggling once again, on the fast track to missing the postseason for the 16th straight season. But the Celtics (24-24) are having their own set of troubles.

Likening Sacramento's situation with guards De'Aaron Fox, 24, and Tyrese Haliburton, 21, to Boston's with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown (can they co-exist?) Draper said that he does believe the Kings will make a move prior to the Feb. 10 trade deadline.

"The problem is, you've got to give it time to develop, and this only their second year together," Draper said of Haliburton and Fox. "I want to see it a little more with these guys."

But what about a veteran along the lines of Harrison Barnes or Buddy Hield, both of whom are 29? Beyond Brown and Tatum -- or Robert Williams -- Draper isn't sure what Boston has to entice Sacramento.

"I don't know what the Celtics have," Draper said. "After that, I think the assets aren't as strong for the Celtics, and that's where they're hurt."

Later on in the episode, NBC Sports Boston Patriots Insider Tom E. Curran joins the show to catch up with Draper and discuss the merits of the Celtics trading Brown.

Also discussed in the episode: Draper discusses what he's learned in the play-by-play role for the Kings, gives his thoughts on why the Celtics are struggling this year, and his take on Brad Stevens as general manager.
