The Boston Celtics reportedly signed Euroleague guard Brad Wanamaker on Monday to add depth and versatility to their bench.
Details on Wanamaker's contract emerged Tuesday afternoon. The deal is a one-year rookie minimum worth a little over $830,000.
Wanamaker was an undrafted free agent out of the University of Pittsburgh in 2011, and has spent most of his professional career overseas. He reportedly received interest from the Philaelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets among other teams.
He averaged 11.3 points, 3.8 assists and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 41 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three last season in the Euroleague. At 6-foot-4, Wanamaker can be expected to provide versatility on both offense and defense to a Celtics team loaded with interchangeable guards and wings.
His role for next season is not certain with how deep the Celtics guard rotation is, but head coach Brad Stevens reportedly talked to Wanamaker over the phone about his potential fit. It must have been enough, because Wanamaker will wear a Celtics uniform next season.
