Celtics Forgotten 50: Part 3 — Franchise in Transition

Boston Celtics and NBA championships. The two go hand in hand... most of the time.

But while the C's won multiple titles in four straight decades — the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s — Boston went without a title between 1986 and 2008. The 22-year gap is the longest championship drought in franchise history.

That stretch of time between Boston Big 3s raising a banner featured some interesting moments even though there were more sub-.500 seasons fewer playoff victories than fans had grown accustomed to.

But like so many before them, the players on those teams still played a role in the franchise’s growth to where it is now and they too should not be forgotten.
