It's the end of an era in the NBA as Vince Carter has officially announced his retirement from basketball after 22 seasons.
The former Toronto Raptors great, who wrapped up his career with the Atlanta Hawks, said Thursday on The Ringer's "Winging It With Vince Carter" podcast he is "officially done playing basketball professionally." Carter's announcement predictably prompted an outpouring of support from his NBA peers, including Boston Celtics big man Enes Kanter.
Kanter paid tribute to Carter with a tweet that read, "Half man, half amazing. #Respect."

Carter, 43, played for eight teams -- the Raptors, New Jersey Nets, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings, and the Hawks -- during his legendary career. He was named an All-Star for 10 consecutive seasons (1999-2006) and perhaps will most be remembered for his iconic performance in the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest.
