Celtics announce preseason schedule, will face 76ers twice

 The call by NBA players and coaches for a shorter preseason slate of games has been answered. 

Usually a seven or eight-game affair, the Boston Celtics’ four-game preseason schedule begins Oct. 2 at the TD Garden against the Charlotte Hornets. 

The Celtics will alternate home and away games against the Hornets and the Philadelphia 76ers who will host Boston for a 7 p.m. Oct. 6 matchup followed by the Celtics hosting the Sixers and No. 1 overall pick Markelle Fultz on Oct. 9 at the TD Garden. 

Boston’s preseason schedule ends on Oct. 11 at Charlotte’s Spectrum Center. 

All of the Celtics’ preseason matchups will be televised on Comcast SportsNet with Mike Gorman, Tommy Heinsohn and Brian Scalabrine calling the games with sideline reporter Abby Chin and Kyle Draper along with A. Sherrod Blakely providing all of CSN New England’s pre-game and post-game coverage throughout the preseason.
