Celtics' Al Horford to miss Friday game vs. Hawks because of left knee soreness

The Boston Celtics will play their first game of the season without their defensive anchor tonight.

Al Horford has been ruled out for tonight's game against the Atlanta Hawks due to left knee soreness.

Horford was questionable for Boston's last game, a 117-109 loss to the New York Knicks, with the same ailment.

Despite his uncertainty heading into the Knicks game, Horford still played and wound up scoring 19 points to go with seven rebounds and five assists.

Marcus Morris will step into the starting lineup, making his first start of the season. Morris is averaging 13.9 points and a career-high 6.6 rebounds this season.

Don't be surprised if rookie center Robert Williams III gets some time, too.

Coach Brad Stevens said Williams will be on the active roster tonight.
