Boston has been very tough place for Timberwolves to beat Celtics

Boston has been one of the toughest places in the NBA for the Minnesota Timberwolves to win games.

The T-Wolves are back in Boston for Wednesday’s matchup with the Celtics at TD Garden, where they haven’t won since 2005. In fact, the Timberwolves are 4-19 in their last 23 games versus the C's.

Minnesota has lost 12 consecutive games in Boston, and its last win in Beantown without Kevin Garnett came in 1992 at the old Boston Garden.

Larry Bird didn’t play in that game, and the C’s will be without their best player Wednesday night when Kyrie Irving sits out due to an eye injury suffered in Monday’s loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

Could a perfect storm be brewing for the Timberwolves to earn a rare victory in Boston? Possibly, but Minnesota is dealing with issues of its own. The Timberwolves could be without three of their better players as Robert Covington, Derrick Rose and Jeff Teague all might not play against Boston.

Coverage of Celtics-Timberwolves begins at 7 p.m. ET with “Celtics Pregame Live” on NBC Sports Boston.
