Al Horford questionable against Atlanta Hawks with sore left knee

BOSTON – The Boston Celtics may be a bit short-handed when they take on the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night.

Al Horford, who spent his first nine NBA seasons with the Hawks, is listed as questionable with a sore left knee – similar to his status prior to Boston’s 117-109 loss to the New York Knicks on Wednesday.

Horford wound up playing against the Knicks, scoring 19 points on 7-for-11 shooting to go with seven rebounds and five assists along with three blocked shots.

This season, Horford has started all 18 games for Boston (9-9), averaging 11.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists while shooting 48 percent from the field and 31.9 percent from 3-point range.

If he is unable to play on Friday, look for the Celtics to have Aron Baynes start at center and most likely re-insert Gordon Hayward in the starting unit which would include Kyrie Irving, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.

UPDATE: Friday, Nov. 23, 11:50 a.m. ET: Horford won't play Friday night against the Hawks, according to the team.
