3-point barrage complicates Carsen Edwards' run for Frosted Flakes

BOSTON — Putting on one of the most dazzling 3-point shooting displays in NBA history will make a rookie's errands run a little bit more challenging in Boston.

A day after making eight 3-pointers in little more than 5 minutes during the third quarter of the Celtics’ preseason finale in Cleveland, Carsen Edwards found himself with some additional fanfare around the city.

"I went to the grocery store [Wednesday] to get some cereal and people were stopping me. But, I mean, it wasn't nothing crazy,” said Edwards. "It was just like, 'Good game,' and I was just like, 'Thanks.' It was calm. I just went to the grocery store and came back. It wasn't nothing crazy.”

Then came the important follow-up: What kind of cereal?

"Frosted Flakes,” said Edwards.

After Thursday’s offday practice, Edwards downplayed the hype lingering after his 3-point barrage.

"I wouldn’t say it's not a big deal. It's just you play so many games, man, that like the best way for you to handle things is kind of stay not too high, not too low and understand you've got to work to be consistent,” said Edwards. "And it's preseason, so I just want to continue to work, continue to get better. So being able to do it was great and it was a blessing to be able to have that opportunity but, at the same time, I just want to focus on being consistent and continue to work because I still make mistakes.”

Teammate Kemba Walker, who knows a thing or two about scoring explosions, liked what he saw from the rookie.

“I’ve seen him do that before plenty of times in college,” said Walker. "It didn’t surprise me. That’s who he is. He can get hot at any given moment. It was really fun to watch actually. I was impressed for the most part.”
