The Boston Celtics were among the most active teams ahead of Thursday's NBA trade deadline.
They made three moves, and the most notable deal was with the San Antonio Spurs.
Boston acquired point guard Derrick White in exchange for Josh Richardson, Romeo Langford, a protected 2022 first-round draft pick and the rights to swap first-rounders in 2028 (top-1 protected).

Forsberg: What Derrick White can bring to the Celtics
White is an excellent defensive player who will upgrade a Celtics team that already boasts one of the top defenses in the league (No. 1 in defensive rating since Dec. 31).
He's also a pretty good scorer, averaging 14.4 points per game. He's not a great outside shooter, but he's more than capable of beating guys off the dribble and finishing at the rim. White's versatility also is a plus. He's able to play point guard or shooting guard and doesn't need to dominate the ball to be effective on offense. His toughness is another positive.
White fits the Celtics' long-term plans, too. He's just 27 years old and signed to a reasonable contract through the 2024-25 season.

2022 NBA trade deadline winners and losers
The Celtics did give up a decent-sized haul to acquire White. They parted with a first-rounder from what promises to be a strong 2022 draft. The pick swap in 2028 has the potential to be a very good option for the Spurs. Josh Richardson is a solid player, but he probably wasn't in the C's long-term outlook. Romeo Langford has potential, but injuries have prevented him from earning a regular role off the bench.
