WATCH: Casas smokes opposite-field, 107-mph homer for WooSox

Triston Casas' quest to join the Boston Red Sox roster in 2022 is off to a promising start.

The prized first base prospect already is showing off his power with Triple-A Worcester. In the sixth inning of Wednesday night's game vs. the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, Casas smoked an opposite-field home run for his first of the year. The homer had an exit velocity of 107 mph.

Sure, that's probably a hard single off the Green Monster at Fenway Park, but it's impressive nonetheless.

If all goes well for Casas with Worcester, the expectation is he'll be called up to the big leagues sometime in the middle of the season. The 22-year-old currently is ranked as the No. 2 prospect in Boston's farm system behind only shortstop Marcelo Mayer.

Casas slashed .284/.395/.484 with 13 homers and 52 RBI last season with Double-A Portland.
