ESPN MLB Insider Kiley McDaniel, who primarily covers prospects and the draft for the network, released his midseason top 50 prospects Thursday.
Two players from the Boston Red Sox system have made the cut, including the team's top pick in last month's draft.
Shortstop Marcelo Mayer, whom Boston selected fourth overall in the 2021 MLB Draft, was ranked as the 29th-best prospect in baseball, according to McDaniel. First baseman Triston Casas, the club's top pick in 2018, checked in at No. 47.

"My second prospect in the 2021 draft went No. 4 overall and is a projection bet, so don't look for big power numbers in the next year or two," McDaniel wrote of Mayer.
The 18-year-old Mayer made his professional debut Thursday in the Florida Complex League, drawing a walk in each of his first three plate appearances before grounding out in his fourth.
Casas, 21, is hitting .271 at Double-A Portland with six home runs and 30 runs batted in over 46 games in 2021.
"There's a good shot he's in the Red Sox's lineup at some point in 2022, and he may be there awhile," McDaniel said of Casas.

Casas, along with second baseman Jeter Downs, were the lone Red Sox representatives in McDaniel's preseason top 100 prospects.
Second baseman Nick Yorke, Boston's top pick in the 2020 draft, as well as outfielder Jarren Duran, who debuted with the big club on July 17, were among 20 other prospects McDaniel considered. There was no mention of Downs, currently hitting .195 for Triple-A Worcester, in the midseason report.
