Today's lineups: Red Sox vs. Astros

BOSTON -- Shane Victorino makes his return to the lineup today, as he'll play right field and bat eighth when the Red Sox -- trying to bounce back from a discouraging 10-inning loss Friday -- host the Astros at Fenway Park in a Fourth of July matinee.

Last year's Independence Day game was a wash-out, but the Sox should be all set to play today, the sixth time in the last seven years they've had a home game on July 4th.

All-time, the Sox are 90-67 on Independence Day.

They'll wear special caps and jerseys on Saturday. The caps feature a logo over a waving American flag, while the jersey features stars within the logo or lettering and numbering.

Steven Wright will get to wear one of those jerseys today, as the Sox reliever (this time, anyways) was called up on Saturday to pitch out of the bullpen.

"Steven Wright's back and Noe Ramirez is optioned back," John Farrell announced on Saturday morning. "High number of innings out of the bullpen. We need a fresh arm and someone capable of going multiple innings."

Wright is available for a couple innings today, but wasn't available to pitch yesterday because he pitched in the minors a few days ago.

Of course, the hope is that Wright isn't needed at all, not with Clay Buchholz on the mound. Buchholz is looking to continue his successful year, one in which has only seen him allow two earned runs over his last three starts (22.0 IP).

"He's had a very strong year to date," Farrell said. "Couple hiccups early in the season but he's been dependable, he's worked deep in games, he's made big pitches in key spots, and has given us that anchor in the rotation particularly working deep. Given what we've come through the last few days, that's needed today."

Justin Masterson said just as much after his failed attempt at pitching deep into Friday's game.

"The starters last couple maybe haven't gone as deep as we like so the bullpen has been picking up some of those innings," Masterson said, "so it would be nice to go a little bit further [Friday]. But we'll just have to leave that up to Buch tomorrow because he's been slicing and dicing so we'll sit back, press play, and watch him go forever."
