Sox' front-office staff expected to remain stable

When Ben Cherington is introduced as general manager Tuesday, it's expected that other promotions within the Red Sox' Baseball Operations department will be announced -- either Tuesday or soon after.

With both current San Diego GM Jed Hoyer and his assistant, Jason McLeod -- both of whom worked for Theo Epstein in Boston -- set to join Epstein in Chicago, the Red Sox are not expected to lose any of their Baseball Operations staff.

It's expected Mike Hazen will be promoted to assistant GM, in effect taking Cherington's current role. It's unclear who will take over Hazen's current job as director of player development, in charge of the minor-league system.

Allard Baird, who has been Epstein's chief major league scout the last few seasons, is expected to remain in that role under Cherington.
