The Boston Red Sox will be one of the more versatile teams in the league in 2021.
They reportedly added another utility man to the mix Thursday by signing Danny Santana to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training, according to The Boston Globe's Julian McWilliams.

SIGN UP HERE MLB Network's Jon Heyman reports the terms of Santana's deal include a $1.75 million base salary , $1 million in incentives, a $100,000 bonus if he starts in Triple-A, and an opt-out.
Santana, 30, began his MLB career with the Minnesota Twins in 2014. His most productive season came with the Texas Rangers in 2019 when he posted a slash line of .283/.324//534 with 28 home runs and 81 RBI.
In 2020, Santana hit .145 with one homer in 15 games before undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right elbow.

With the addition of Santana, manager Alex Cora will have no shortage of defensive alignment options. The veteran can play virtually anywhere on the field, similarly to fellow Red Sox newcomers Kiké Hernandez and Marwin Gonzalez.
Santana must clear COVID protocol and his physical before joining the team in Fort Myers, Fla.
