The Red Sox have agreed to sign left-handed pitcher Lenny DiNardoon a minor-league, split contract, according to WEEI.com.
The deal is pending the results of a physical. He ready to be used as a starter or a reliever, according to the report.
DiNardo, 31, spent three years with the Red Sox from 2004-06 and went 1-3 with a 5.53 ERAin 43 games as both a starter and reliever for Boston. Since then, he has spent time with the A's and Royals. His best season came with the A's in 2007 (8-10 with a 4.11 ERA in 35 appearances) with then-A's pitching coach Curt Young. Young is now the Red Sox pitching coach.
