Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski expressed interest in replacing general manager Mike Hazen with someone already within the organization.
It appears that person will not be vice president of baseball operations Fran Wren.
According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, Wren is happy with his current position and it’s “unlikely” that he will become the general manager.
Wren had previously worked as the general manager of the Baltimore Orioles (1999) and Atlanta Braves (2008-2014). Wren has worked with Dave Dombrowski in the past in both Montreal and Florida for a period of 11 years.
