Red Sox's huge win vs. Yankees illustrates offense's dominance in 2019

The Boston Red Sox offense has been on fire this year, and there was no better example of its prowess than Thursday night's 19-3 win over the rival New York Yankees at Fenway Park

The Red Sox clobbered Yankees starter Masahiro Tanaka for 12 runs and kept hitting against New York's bullpen en route to its most impressive offensive performance of 2019.

Xander Bogaerts continued his career season with another excellent showing. He went 4-for-6 with two homers, four RBI and four runs scored. Rafael Devers' hot streak kept up with another home run, while Andrew Benintendi collected three hits and scored three times.

Eight Red Sox players tallied multiple hits.

The offensive explosion highlighted just how dominant the team's offense has been in 2019. The Red Sox now lead the American League in the following statistical categories:

--Runs (601)
--Hits (1018)
--RBI (570)
--AVG (.274)
--OBP (.344)

The Red Sox's pitching has struggled throughout the season. If the offense wasn't producing at an incredible level, this team probably would've been out of the playoff race a while ago. The MLB trade deadline is July 31, and the Red Sox would be wise to make a move to upgrade the rotation or bullpen (ideally both). Boston ranks seventh in the AL in ERA (4.64) and its bullpen has blown 18 saves (tied for the second-most in the league).
