Red Sox vs. Rangers lineups: Holt in, Bradley Jr. out

In Darwinzon Hernandez's first career major league start, the Venezuelan southpaw will be without arguably the team's best fielder protecting him.

Jackie Bradley Jr., whose bat has started to heat up recently — at least for his standards — gets the day off on Tuesday night versus the Rangers. Bradley Jr. has recorded a hit in five of his last seven games, but will miss his eighth game of the season.

Andrew Benintendi will shift from left to center, and utility player Brock Holt will replace Benintendi in front of the Green Monster. Holt, who tied the game in the ninth inning on Monday with an RBI single, has brought his batting average up to .292 since returning from an eye injury.

Marco Hernandez, who is hitting nearly .500 in four big league games this year, is slotted into the eight-spot at second base.

Hernandez and the outfielders will look to produce runs against Rangers right-hander Ariel Jurado (2.78 ERA). Jurado has held left-handed hitters to a .206 average, but righties are hitting .310 off him.

On the mound for Boston, Hernandez, 22, is making his second major league appearance. On April 23, he struck out four in 2.1 scoreless innings against the Detroit Tigers.
