Red Sox vs. Athletics lineups: World Series MVP Steve Pearce makes 2019 debut

The Boston Red Sox ended their four-game losing streak with a come-from-behind 6-3 win over the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday night, and their next goal is to win back-to-back games for the first time in 2019.

Eduardo Rodriguez will make his second start of the season for the Sox in Thursday afternoon's series finale at Oakland Alameda County Coliseum. He gave up eight hits, six runs (five earned) one home run, three walks and struck out five over 4 1/3 innings last week against the Seattle Mariners. He also took the loss.

Rodriguez will be opposed by Athletics starter Brett Anderson, who's 1-0 after pitching six shutout innings against the Los Angeles Angels last week.

Mookie Betts, fresh off his go-ahead double in the ninth inning Wednesday, will again bat leadoff and play right field. Xander Bogaerts, who fouled a ball off his ankle Tuesday and didn't play Wednesday, is back at shortstop and will bat fifth.

The Red Sox also made two roster moves ahead of Thursday's game. Reigning World Series MVP Steve Pearce is back on the roster, and he'll be playing first base and batting third.
