Red Sox-Tigers postponed due to rain, will play doubleheader Tuesday

The Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers will not start their four-game series Monday night at Fenway Park, and Mother Nature is to blame.

Steady, and potentially heavy, rain is in the forecast for the Boston area Monday night, and this weather forced the series opener to be postponed. These teams will now play a day-night doubleheader beginning Tuesday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. ET. The second game of the doubleheader is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET.

The Red Sox entered Monday with a 9-13 record, which puts them in fourth place in the American League East.

Boston played its best baseball of the young season over the weekend in a three-game sweep of the Rays in Tampa Bay.
