Red Sox' Steven Wright seeing Dr. James Andrews due to elbow discomfort

Steven Wright has been plagued by injuries over the last couple years, and it appears the Red Sox knuckleballer has suffered yet another.

Before Tuesday's game against the Royals, manager Alex Cora revealed Wright will visit Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Fla. to get his right elbow looked at. The 34-year-old has been experiencing discomfort in the elbow since May.

Wright has been on the injured list since taking a comebacker off his right foot on July 13. The former All-Star wasn't very effective in his six appearances prior to the injury, posting a whopping 8.53 ERA and 2.37 WHIP in 6 1/3 innings pitched.

In 2018, Wright underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. He also was suspended for the first 80 games of the season after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.
