Red Sox moves: Holt, Johnson on injured list, Walden, Lin called up

The Red Sox have placed left-handed reliever Brian Johnson (left elbow inflammation) and utility man Brock Holt (scratched cornea in his right eye) on the injured list and called up right-handed reliever Marcus Walden and infielder Tzu-Wei Lin from Triple-A Pawtucket to take their roster spots.

Holt was just 1-for-16 this season. He has started the past four games, three at second base, one at shortstop. Lin hit .256 in 62 games last season for Boston. Johnson had been a candidate to start on Sunday until he entered the blowout against the Diamondbacks on Friday and allowed seven runs in 1 1/3 innings of relief. Walden allowed six earned runs in seven major league games for Boston last season. He has pitched 1 2/3 of scoreless relief for Pawtucket.
