Red Sox absent key bat in series finale vs. Yankees

If the Boston Red Sox are going to pick up their first win of the season Sunday, they'll need to do so without one of their key bats in the lineup.

Prized free agent acquisition Trevor Story is going to be out of the finale in The Bronx against the New York Yankees due to flu-like symptoms, the team announced.

Story tested negative for COVID-19, according to the Associated Press.

Tomase: Trevor Story takes silver lining from quiet Red Sox debut

Story has gone 1 for 8 over his first two games for the Red Sox, recording a double in the team's 4-2 loss on Saturday.

Jonathan Arauz is starting for Story at second base and hitting ninth. Story had hit sixth in each of Boston's first two games.

It's unclear how long Story will remain out of the lineup. The Red Sox travel to Detroit for a three-game set with the Tigers on Monday before their home opener on Friday against the Minnesota Twins.
