It's hard to fathom why Rafael Devers was left off the AL All-Star team given the season he's having, and his prolific offensive campaign continued Friday against the Dodgers.
Devers went 2-for-3 with two RBI, two runs and a home run in the Red Sox win, raising his season totals to a .327 batting average, 17 home runs and 64 RBI.
According to the team, Devers is now one of three players this season with an average over .325, 15 home runs and 60 RBI. The other two players are Cody Bellinger and Christian Yelich.
July has been especially fruitful for the 22-year-old slugger. In seven games, Devers has five home runs and 14 RBI while hitting over .420 with a 1.253 OPS over the last month.
Is it time to start thinking about the AL MVP award for Devers? Probably not since Mike Trout is absolutely ridiculous, but it's pretty cool to see Devers match up with two top-three players in the league.
