Ortiz, MLB stars congratulate Miggy on 500th homer

Miguel Cabrera is the newest member of the 500-homer club.

The Detroit Tigers star reached the milestone in the sixth inning of Sunday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. He becomes the 28th player ever to hit 500 home runs in their career.

The baseball world took to social media to congratulate Cabrera on his legendary achievement. A fellow member of the 500-homer club, Boston Red Sox great David Ortiz, was among those to reach out to the two-time MVP.

Next up for Cabrera, the 3,000-hit club. The 38-year-old is only 45 hits away from accomplishing the feat, and only six other players in MLB history have notched 500 career homers and 3,000 hits: Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Rafael Palmeiro, Albert Pujols, Alex Rodriguez and Eddie Murray.
