The Red Sox have placed Dustin Pedroia back on the 10-game disabled list with left knee inflammation. The second baseman returned from the DL Tuesday, played a game as DH, and hasn't played since.
To take his spot on the roster, lefty reliever Robby Scott was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket. Eduardo Nunez and Brock Holt have been playing second in the absence of Pedroia, 33, who had surgery on the knee in the offseason and re-injured it on a collision with the Orioles Manny Machado in April.
Pedroia is hitting .303 with six homers, 54 RBI and a .784 OPS.
Red Sox manager John Farrell had said Friday that another DL stint could be coming after Pedroia missed the past two games. Here's more on his status from CSN Red Sox Insider Evan Drellich.
