NEW YORK -- Steven Wright, on the disabled list with a concussion, visited Dr. Micky Collins in Pittsburgh Thursday, and rejoined the team Friday.
Over the next five-to-seven days, Wright will be running, throwing and "ramping up general baseball activity,'' according to interim manager Torey Lovullo.
"If he passes those tests,'' said Lovullo, "he'll be cleared and re-evaluate where he is with his throwing program and how we can get him back up on the mound as soon as possible.''
Meanwhile, second baseman Dustin Pedroia is with the team and is aiming to start a rehab period next week with a minor league affiliate.
"He's initiating more and more baseball activities,'' said Lovullo. "He's up to 40 ground balls right now. He's swinging in the cage and some of the pre-game stuff here for BP. He's just ramping everything up. So at the end of that time period, we'll evaluate where he's at and see where we can get him into a game.
"Based on what he tells us, we'll get a game plan and go from there.''
